THE STORY: We are shaped by the impact and influence of people, lessons learned, the values we hold, the roads we travel, suffering and loss, and the memories we choose to keep. My story is colorful. I have dived for lobster, herded cattle in Oklahoma, snow skied above clouds, hiked 13,000-foot mountain ranges, traveled to Europe, and launched a business.

I found God’s mercy and grace, I have loved deeply more than once, gave birth to a son who has brought indescribable pleasure to my life, and am the wife of a man who satisfies my heart in every way.

WHY I CHOSE TO LIVE IN COBB: I moved to West Cobb in 1991 and fell in love with the trees. I have met so many genuinely good people here. While west Marietta has changed much over the last 28 years, there are many pleasantries that have come in the wake of its burgeoning growth.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB? I am a Certified Financial Planner®, a.k.a. a CFP. I own Navigational Wealth Planning, Inc. I answer questions people seek guidance on; all surrounding the managing of personal wealth and the many complex financial issues we face as we age. My work can lead to personally meaningful outcomes. Relationships developed over the past 19 years are the precious, rich reward to my energy.

While the firm offers impressive investment oversight, I also offer financial planning and retirement analysis. People often have a need for reliable insight and clarity, but face the challenge of finding a seasoned practitioner who offers this service on an hourly basis. For years, I have led classes at the Marietta Community School, combatting the many free retirement dinner seminars, which commonly are ruses for the promotion of annuities. My aim is to provide people access to worthy insight, helping them to determine their next steps.

LEISURE TIME: My husband and I are empty-nesters and having a ball. We enjoy explorative travel. I facilitate a weekly Bible study. We enjoy serving at our church, walking any mountain trail, finding the next winding road on the motorcycle, and socializing with friends.

BEST ADVICE: Let every decision you make today be guided by where you want, who you want to be in four to five years — in business or personally. While I have enjoyed business success, it did not come at the expense of others; but in respectful service to those I have the privilege to serve. When I became a CFP, less than 5 percent were women. I recently read that of all investment assets professionally managed across the United States, less than  2 percent of those assets are under companies/firms owned by women. As a veteran of this male-dominated industry, I have beaten the odds.

WHAT’S NEXT? Businesses evolve. For Navigational Wealth Planning, like other businesses, my looming project is getting a succession plan in place. I have a strong desire to extend an opportunity that I could only dream about years ago, to a younger, entrepreneurial-minded CFP. It would be so satisfying to me, years from now, seeing the company thrive and continuing to serve the community well.
