July Cobb County Events

With Fourth of July celebrations coming to a close, summer is slowly winding down. At least it seems to be as stores are replacing red, white and blue décor with binders and other back-to-school supplies. Even though shelves are already filling with pencils, notebooks and other small reminders that fall is around the corner, there is still plenty of time to stock your summer with fun. For ideas, take a look at these Cobb County events for the month of July.

Marietta– Are you interested in cars…or maybe just in a worthy cause? Sponsored by the Veterans After Action Coalition (VAAC) and the Women in Action Coalition (WIAC), an auto show will be held on July 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Jim Miller Park. Over 100 vehicles will be on display. In addition, the event will feature a variety of fun activities, as well as a live rock and roll band. The funds raised by the show will support the efforts of these organizations to help build a house for an area woman veteran. Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta will play a helping hand in the construction process.

Vinings– On Sunday, July 20 from 1-3 p.m., celebrate National Ice Cream Day at the Old Pavilion in Vinings. Sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery, the ice cream social will feature a special performance by the Sentimental Journey barbershop quartet at 2 p.m. Ice cream is not the only treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth. Visitors are welcomed to munch on Vining’s Rotary’s fresh popped popcorn or sink their teeth into fresh baked cookies from Fidelity Bank. They will also have the opportunity to meet the Vinings Fire Station No. 5 Firefighters, have their faces painted by the renowned face painter from St. Angelo’s Pizza and view a selection of classic cars on display. Parking will be offered across the street at Piedmont Medical Facility.

Marietta– On Saturday, June 26, stop by Be Yoga for a basic hot yoga class followed by a smoothie tasting with UpDog Smoothies. The one-hour vinyasa class is performed in a heated studio that is kept at 95 degrees to help safely open the body. The class begins at 3 p.m. and is structured to accommodate beginners and advanced students alike. Bring your own mat, water and towel. Starting on July 27, Be Yoga will be offering two weeks of unlimited classes for just $20.

Kennesaw– Georgia Games invites all running enthusiasts to join in the 2014 Georgia Games Run for Life on Saturday, July 26.
